DETAILS:
A partnership development between Lubavitch
Foundation and LB Hackney, this 2-floor government-sponsored
initiative will provide 25 nursery places for local children,
together with other family facilities. An existing community
library, currently located in the adjacent Lubavitch Girls'
School, will occupy the second floor, and the top floor will
be dedicated to community training facilities.
These
computer images show how the semi-detached house adjacent
to the existing school makes way for the new building, which
is designed to effect the transition between the '50s modern
school structure and the 1900s adjacent housing.
The
grey brickwork of the school is echoed in the new building,
and the angled wood-clad projecting bay with its brightly
coloured glazing acts as a beacon to visitors up and down
Northfield Road.
Planning
permission was secured in June 2005.
