DETAILS:
The
winning entry in a limited competition sponsored by a local
trust, this 28-flat new-build sheltered accommodation development
occupies a key corner location on a tight urban site.
Accommodation is arranged symmetrically on four floors, with
common rooms distributed through the floors rather than being
confined to the ground floor.
The flats are arranged towards the outer public perimeter of
the site, forming a quiet inner communal garden area.
To encourage residents to circulate, communal spaces are distributed
throughout the building, reducing the potential institutional
atmosphere
The project was not built due to the inability of the site owner
to deliver the site. |
